Fungi in Indoor Environments:

Fungal spores are common in indoor environments. This is completely normal and the microorganisms usually pose no significant threat to our health. In some cases, however, the microbes are pathogenic and produce allergens. Some of these microbes are also responsible for contamination and spoilage of food and beverages in production plants and warehouses. Aspergillus spp., Cladosporium spp. and Penicllium spp. are commonly found in indoor environments. Some of these species are allergen producers, pathogens and known to cause food and beverage spoilage.
